Can work stress affect my baby-to be?
I have a very stressful job, which involves commuting on the train everyday and in the last week I've been experiencing some spotting. I'm wondering if stress could be causing the spotting?
The answer to your question is that the baby you are carrying certainly doesn't want you to be under extreme stress. Your baby is already there, but he is not yet born. From my experience, women who work late into pregnancy in highly stressful jobs are more likely to have early and lower birthweight babies, which is obviously not in the baby's interest. I think you already know that you need to do something about your job and I suspect the commuting is only part of the problem.
Perhaps now is the time to take stock and work out how you can make your work and life a little easier for you. Perhaps your partner could help by doing the supermarket shop. Could you afford a minicab to bring you home some evenings? Does your boss and your work place know that you are pregnant? Have you worked out when you are going to take Maternity Leave? (Try to take it when you are 34 weeks pregnant if at all possible). Is it possible for you to work a shorter day, or organise a three day week, perhaps doing two days at home? I don't need to tell you that the baby you are carrying is very important to you, you need to start making some arrangements and modifications to your lifestyle.
Good luck.
