Exercise when youre pregnant
My wife is 6-8 weeks pregnant and continues to play sports such as hockey, jogging and squash. Assuming that the pregnancy is Ok, is their any danger of a miscarriage?
I know you cant say for certain but do many women still train while pregnant?
Theres quite a lot of discussion about how much and what type of exercise is 'safe' during these first few weeks.
On the whole, the general advice would be that for the first 14-16 weeks there is a recognized 'vulnerability' about the pregnancy and even if a woman is fit
and healthy, miscarriages can occur.
The advice is to avoid any really vigorous activity or contact sports that have a 'built-in' potential for injuries and shocks, such as horse riding, squash or hockey. Gentle exercise is fine.
