Are GP's pregnancy tests more accurate?

I have been prescribed Clomid (50mg) over the past four months for secondary subfertility. I am currently on day 39 of my cycle and have performed four home pregnancy tests and they have all shown a positive result. I have also been twice to my GP where they cannot confirm the pregnancy - does this mean there is something wrong? Should I presume that the home tests are inaccurate and I am not in fact pregnant?

I am sorry to learn of your problems and anxieties with secondary infertility.

It's also a pity you have come up with a confusing and frustrating situation so early in a possible pregnancy. It seems however that you have now been successful.

The home pregnancy test is, in fact, very sensitive and usually quite accurate. The urine test performed in the GP surgery is not the same type, and is not as sensitive; it often does not reveal a pregnancy until a later stage.

With the details that you supplied and the results of the four home tests being positive - I would be 'happy to fall off the fence' and say that you are pregnant.

This is further supported by the cessation of previously regular periods, and any early accompanying symptoms, coupled with the fact that you are trying to become pregnant.
