Help for low income workers
I'm claiming Working Tax Credit because I am on a low wage. Will I get anything extra to help me with the cost of my new baby?
You may qualify for a Sure Start Maternity Grant of £500 if you are receiving a qualifying benefit. Qualifying benefits are income-based JobSeekers Allowance or Income Support.
You can also get this grant if you are getting Child Tax Credit of at least £10.45 a week (£20.90 if you have a baby under one). You should claim the grant from your local JobCentre Plus on form SF100 within three months of the birth.
For more information call Working Families helpline on 0800 013 0313 or see www.workingfamilies.org.uk
