What sort of tens machine?
I am hoping to use a tens machine during labour, but am bewildered by the variety on offer. They cost between £30 and £90, there are single and dual options, and the product data is complex. I am happy to hire or buy, but I do want one that will be effective. Can you give me any pointers to decide which one to go for?
You need to use a Tens machine with a dual option during labour.
I reckon the best one is called the Obstetric Pulsar. You can hire them for around £26.99 for five weeks and they are specially designed for labour. They also have very good instructions as to where to put the electrodes and how to use them.
You can hire them from a company called Spembly Medical, phone - 0800 515413.

For more information about Tens machines see the article on Controlling contractions about pain relief in labour.
