Sally tried the MorningWell tapes to relieve her daily nausea, and kept a diary to record how it worked

‘Tape broke! I’m not sure if this is because I’ve used it too much.’

I really wanted to try this tape, because during my first pregnancy I had sickness all day every day until about 30 weeks and then again from 35 weeks. I was hospitalised at 27 weeks for what I now know was hyperemisis (severe morning sickness), although they didn’t tell me that at the time.

From seven weeks in this pregnancy I’ve had morning sickness – being unable to keep anything down until 10.30am, occasional (two or three times a week) evening sickness and the odd day where I just couldn’t keep anything down.

At 14 weeks +4 I was hospitalised with hyperemisis, put on a drip for three days and given Stemetil injections. When I came home I was given Stemetil tablets, which I have been taking twice a day since. I have only actually been sick twice since leaving hospital six days ago, but have felt very nauseous a lot of the time and have not been able to eat much.

Day 1: Friday 14th December (pregnancy week 16)
Tape arrived this morning. Today I took my daughter to soft play (I am still off work sick). I got home feeling unwell and listened to the tape. I listened to one side in full. After that I felt a little better – not quite 100 per cent, but I did feel ravenous. Ate a whole lasagne – first time I’ve been able to eat a whole portion for weeks. Used the tape twice more today, each time when feeling nauseous before eating. Haven’t been sick.

Day 2: Saturday 15th December
Used tape almost constantly from waking up – severe vomiting, unable even to keep water down. Tape seemed to make no difference. At lunchtime I was starting to get a migraine from the dehydration and had to stop listening to the tape. Eventually had to call out the doctor for an anti-sickness injection, after which I slept and wasn’t sick again.
