Am I leaking amniotic fluid?
When I cough or sneeze really hard, I notice that I wet my underwear. It is not a constant thing I only leak occasionally. My midwife has said it is not a leak of amniotic fluids. I am in my 19th week and my ultrasound is on Tuesday. Is this a bladder problem or has my midwife missed something?
It is possible that you have a leak in the bag of waters; however, it is also possible that you have pressure on your bladder and are leaking urine. Because it is in small quantities, it may not feel or smell like urine. This happens to a lot of women.
For now, limit your activities and wait for the ultrasound. The results will indicate if there is a normal or low amount of fluid. If it is normal it is unlikely that you have a leak in your bag of waters, so you will be able to rest easy. If it is low you will need bed rest and observation to see if your leak seals itself.
