The First iVillage wedding

After months of preparation tinijune finally married her fiance Ian. Here's what she had to say about the big day

'The night before the wedding I was soo nervous and I felt very sick, couldn't eat and felt on the brink of tears the whole time, and I did actually spend about an hour crying in total just from nerves. I had no doubts at all about marrying him and I felt very soppy and in love so I really can't explain the emotional outbursts!

We stayed apart from each other from 8 pm the night before, he went in one bar of the hotel and I went in the other end with all the women, I went to my room early and tried to sleep, but I ended up doing girly things like plucking my eyebrows and doing face packs and stuff. I didn't get to sleep 'til about 2 am, then I woke up 5 mins before my wake up call at 5:55am and my stomach turned over, all I could say for 2 hours was omigod, omigod, omigod but then my mum ordered me a brandy from room service and that seemed to sort me out.

I was going to do my daughters hair curly for the wedding but the curlers wouldn't stay in so we scrapped that idea, that was the first thing that went wrong (but everyone was right, the little things like that don't matter) I managed to eat a tiny triangle of toast then I carried on getting ready, leaving my hair and the dress until last.

I wasn't happy with my hair in the end (never ever attempt to do it yourself on the day) but it was passable so I got my dress on ... and then realised it was 11:35am (wedding was supposed to be at 11:30 am) so panic ensued as my mum left to join the wedding party. I had to get Lauren's headdress on her and try and get my wrap right, and try to make a sticky out bit of hair behave all at the same time! Then the manager of the hotel knocked on the door and said everyone was waiting, so I gave up with the wrap and just went bare armed and hoped it was warm (number 2 thing to go wrong)

As I walked down the stairs to the wedding room I kept tripping on my dress(it was right but it seems I shrank) and my heart was beating harder than it has ever done before...my god I couldn't think straight at all by this point, and I ended up walking down the aisle very fast with Lauren on the wrong side of me (she wanted to hold my hand rather than go in front or behind) and when I got the 'altar' (a hotel restaurant table) I looked at my groom and thought 'wow he's gorgeous! And then I found myself shaking, and blushing with my heart pounding for 10 mins while the minister did prayers, blessed the rings, started the ceremony and asked if there were any just cause or impediment etc. I can't remember any of that word for word but I'm aware it happened...so strange, but anyway then he said his vows to me, he promised to be a loving, faithful husband until separated by death, then I did the same to him, then the minister declared that we are taking each other as husband and wife for better for worse, richer for poorer, sickness and in health as we exchanged rings. He then declared us husband and wife, but he forgot the kiss the bride thing (never mind) - we left the room and went into the bar where we had a big snog to compensate for the lack of kiss during the ceremony. Then I got loaded down with teddies, horseshoes etc before we ran off for some photos while it was still sunny (there were clouds over all the mountains heading our way) then we went back to the hotel, had all the photos with guests and family etc done then we had a drink while they brought out our buffet meal.

The speeches were really good, and I'm glad I did mine but I had a sudden attack of nerves during it and faltered a little, but no one cared so never mind, then after the speeches we just drank a lot in the bar, and at about 7pm me and my groom ran off to see our honeymoon suite and have a rest, but we ended up consummating the marriage and drinking the champagne we had in the room! (that was the most fun part! *giggles* ) then we went back down at 8:30 for our evening buffet where we stayed just mingling and chatting until 3 am.

And that's it! The honeymoon was great too but that's another story.
