Children review fractions as they divide a pizza. What this activity will develop: Maths skills What you'll need: - Cardboard circles (18-20cm in diameter)
- Yellow craft paper
- Various scraps of coloured craft paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Black markers
- Rulers
Setting up: Give your child a circle and tell him or her that you are going to make your favourite pizza. First, have the child cut out and glue on a piece of yellow craft paper to fit the circle. Then have your child cut toppings (pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, green pepper, ham) from craft paper scraps and glue them on. What to do: When the pizzas are completed, review fractions with your child. Finally, have the your child divide his or her pizzas into six or eight equal pieces, using rulers and markers to draw the lines.
