Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette

Birth dates: his: 8th September 1971; hers: 15th June 1964

Age difference: 7 years

Their story: She was the first woman on TV to say the word 'period' (in a Tampax commercial); she appeared with Bruce Springsteen in his Dancing in the Dark video; and in 1995 she was the cover girl of People's 50 Most Beautiful People issue. Oh, and she's also one of the Friends. Meanwhile he was born into a successful Hollywood family; he has a passion for wrestling; he's in a rock band called EAR2000; he frequents magic shops; and he looks like your brother.

Yet somehow, on the set of 1996's teen thriller Scream, this unlikely duo paired up on and off screen. A few years later, their wedding invitation featured the two of them dressed in Hallowe'en costumes (Arquette was a squirrel and Cox wore a blonde wig), with caption read: 'We're nuts about each other.' Indeed.

Their nuptials: On 12th June 1999, Cox and Arquette said 'I do' at historic Grace Cathedral atop Nob Hill in San Francisco, with celebs such as Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, Nicolas Cage and Paul Reubens (a.k.a. Pee-Wee Herman) in attendance. Their honeymoon included stops at a tennis camp, a beach in the Caribbean, Busch Gardens, Disney World and Islands of Adventure, where, as Arquette stated, they 'rode all these amazing roller-coasters.'

Their offspring: The rumour mill has been churning since they wed - including reports of a miscarriage a few years ago. Courtney's got her work cut out now that she's finished making Friends - the couple are currently expecting the patter of tiny feet very soon. The marriage is alleged to be passionate and stormy at times, but lets hope the baby brings them even closer together.

What they have to say: On family, Arquette claims: 'We're gonna have so much fun. We love our dog so much, so we can only imagine how much we'll love our kids.'

Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne

Birth dates: his: 3rd December 1948; hers: 10th October 1952

Age difference: 4 years

Their story: Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, stars of the wildly popular real-life MTV show The Osbournes, have recently celebrated 20 years of marriage (and by celebrity standards, that's an even more amazing feat).

Ozzy and Sharon met when her father, Don Arden, was the manager for Ozzy's heavy metal band Black Sabbath. Truckloads of drugs and alcohol (and one failed marriage for Ozzy) later, Sharon quite literally picked the singer up off the floor of his apartment and forced him to start cleaning up his act. Through rehab, dove and bat beheadings and numerous Ozzfest tours, Sharon and Ozzy have proven that even rock stars can have a happy marriage.

Their nuptials: Ozzy and Sharon were married on a beach in Hawaii on 4th July 1982. Soon after, the crucifix-obsessed couple bought out Ozzy's contract from Sharon's father and she took over the management duties. With a well-documented ball-buster persona, she continues to negotiate million-dollar deals for her family.

Their offspring: In addition to two children from Ozzy's previous marriage to Thelma Reilly, Ozzy and Sharon have three children of their own: Aimee (2nd September 1983), Kelly (27th October 1984) and Jack (8 November 1985). While Aimee decided against appearing in The Osbournes, Kelly and Jack, who are both involved in the music industry, seem to relish the attention. Kelly has just released her first single, a rocked-out, glitzy cover of Madonna's Papa Don't Preach.

In addition, Sharon has just revealed that she has adopted the teenage son of a woman who recently died from colon cancer. Robert Marcato has been a friend of her daughters for years and Sharon was moved to help when his mother died of the same disease she herself is currently battling.

Sharon was diagnosed with cancer of the colon in July and immediately underwent an operation. But further tests revealed the cancer had spread and she has now begun a three-month course of chemotherapy. She has pledged to take Robert into the family and pay for his college education. He will appear in the second series of The Osbournes. Fact: Ozzy has been ordered back on the road again by his wife because he cannot cope with her chemotherapy treatment. The Black Sabbath frontman, who became hysterical when he learned of his wife's illness, almost passed out after watching her first chemo session. Sharon decided he would be better back on tour.

What they have to say: In a heart-rending quote, Ozzy earlier said: 'She's not allowed to die before me. I couldn't live without her.'

Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn

Birth dates: his: 1st December 1935; hers: 8th October 1970

Age difference: 35 years

Their story: One of most publicised and controversial pairings in recent history, Woody and Soon-Yi have had an uphill battle convincing both the public and Soon-Yi's mother (who was, at the time, Woody's lover) that their relationship was, well, normal. A brief recap:
1. Soon-Yi was adopted at age eight by Mia Farrow and Andre Previn during a trip to Korea.
2. Two years later, Woody and Mia began a relationship that lasted more than a decade.
3. Farrow found nude pictures of 21-year-old Previn in Allen's apartment in 1991.
4. Media chaos ensued. But, it seemed like Woody's affection for his long-time lover's daughter was more than fatherly. Five years after their affair (reportedly) began, Woody popped the question.

Their nuptials: The director and Columbia University graduate student exchanged vows in a tiny ceremony at Palazzo Cavalli, the city hall in Venice, Italy, in December 1997. The mother-of-the-bride/mother-in-law was not present.

Their offspring: Grab your calculators - with Soon-Yi, Allen has two daughters: Bechet Dumaine (December 1998), who, if you can believe it, Woody and wife have never quite confirmed that they adopted or gave birth to, and Manzie Tio, who they adopted after she was born in Texas (February 2000). Woody and Mia had three children during their relationship: Moses (adopted), Dylan (adopted) and Satchel (biological). And yes, custody battles were quite the controversial issue between the sparring and spurned exes.

What they have to say: Woody says of the May-December romance: 'Interestingly, it wasn't hard for us to keep focused during the difficult times because of all the media attention and criticism. If anything, it brought us closer together.'

Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson

Birth dates: his: 20th December 1966; hers: 19th April 1979

Age difference: 13 years

Their story: At the time they met, she was Hollywood's 21-year-old 'It' girl - fresh from starring roles in 200 Cigarettes and Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous. The daughter of Goldie Hawn (and also raised by Kurt Russell), Hudson had been romantically linked to Lenny Kravitz and Matt LeBlanc. Meanwhile, Robinson, crooner for the rock-n-roll band the Black Crowes, had been romantically linked most often to drugs and alcohol, but seemed to be trying to kick some of his more destructive rock-star tendencies.

Their nuptials: Having known each other less than a year, the couple tied the knot at a 2000 New Year's Eve ceremony at Hudson's family ranch in Aspen, Colorado. Family and close friends attended the small 19th-century themed wedding. Kate looked stunning in a Vera Wang original and Chris, well, he looked just happy (read: lucky) to be there.

Their offspring: Kate is still the baby in this family, though it has been rumoured that the couple is considering adoption.
