Crayon kids

What you'll need

  • 7 kids who need costumes
  • 7 packages of different coloured crepe paper
  • 7 matching coloured pieces of craft paper
  • 14 pieces of 22cm (8?in) x 28cm (11in) white craft paper or cardboard
  • Stapler
  • Tape
  • Hole punch
  • String
  • Scissors
  • Marker

What to do
Make a different crepe paper cape for each child, being sure to leave movement for arms and legs. Fasten the paper with a stapler or tape.

Staple the corresponding colour craft paper into a tube-like hat. Use the white craft paper and marker to make two identical letter signs for each child and spell out the word 'C-R-A-Y-O-L-A'. Use the hole punch to punch two holes in the top of each sign. Cut two pieces of string per child. Tie the signs together with the string through the corresponding holes and place over the shoulders of the child to create a sign for front and back.

Repeat the procedure six more times.

Recommendation
Have the children pick their colour out of a hat to avoid arguments. (Everyone wants to be either red or blue!)
