Purple party - what's it all about?

iVillage has chosen to support Breast Cancer Care's Lavender Trust as they raise money specifically to fund Breast Cancer Care's support and information services for younger women

Every year 8000 women under the age of 50 are diagnosed with breast cancer. Whilst breast cancer is not common in this age-group, being diagnosed at a young age can come as a real shock and many young women have little knowledge, information and experience of breast cancer. The emotional impact of the diagnosis, the process of treatment and coming to terms with breast cancer can be an isolating and difficult period.

The Lavender Trust provides a range of services for people needing information, advice and support for breast cancer. Each year, Breast Cancer Care reaches over one million people and sends out over 56,000 booklets and fact-sheets on issues specifically relevant to younger women. All these services are provided free of charge. Each call to the Breast Cancer Care help-line costs £18 to support.

Every pound you raise will help to support the work of the Lavender Trust and make a real difference to a woman's life.
