Singeing and staining can look unsightly, but these problems are easy to repair in two steps, as shown. Sand the area back to the bare wood, making sure not to create a depression. Then use a cloth to remove all traces of dust and debris.. Brush on two or three coats of the recommended oil, usually tung oil. Brush on a coat, then remove the excess with a cloth.
