Summer hair tips

Darren Webster and Lisa Whiteman, from stylish Mayfair salon Webster Whiteman, reveal their top tips for sexy summer hair

Summer Strand Smoothie
Bananas aren't just beneficial for summer diets, they can work wonders for your locks too. When the heat makes hair brittle and the sun splits your ends, replenish them with a natural fruit smoothie made from a delicious banana, one tablespoon of honey and 200ml of milk.

Mix together in a bowl, then work through hair and leave on for 30 minutes, before rinsing. Packed with potassium, vitamins A, B and C and rich in natural oils, this delicious blend will restore elasticity and smooth frazzled tips. Plus, any leftovers make the perfect health-conscious snack for you to slurp!

The Heat Is On!
Whether you're in Blighty or the Bahamas and have burnt your scalp while sunbathing, nurse it better with a simple home remedy. Infuse a camomile teabag in hot water add a drop of wheat germ oil (if you have it), then let it cool, before drizzling the mixture over the scalp.

Camomile's soothing properties will cool singed/tingling scalps and the oil will soften frazzled tresses. Be sure not to rinse or touch the scalp after, simply leave in, plait your locks and cover up if you're out in the sun again!

Silk Dreams
To keep your hair healthy during the humid, damaging summer months, wrap your tresses in a silk scarf or sleep on a silk pillowcase.

The properties of this sumptuous fabric allow you to move freely around the pillow without causing friction, which results in frizz. The smooth fabric will prevent any damage to your strands and will stop tresses creasing, getting caught or snapping while you sleep, keeping them looking and feeling blissfully radiant!
