Today, the dynamic duo sit at the head of an empire of 11 Luscious stores, nine of them in the Holmes Place Health Club chain, two organic corner stores (with more on the way), a healthy-eating website and, after a little persuasion from enthusiastic customers, a low-fat cookbook. 'We set up Luscious because we couldnt get great low-fat food at a cafe,' says Alison. 'Most people think they eat healthily but are daily doing battle with hidden food problems... too much salt, not enough fibre, too much fat and a confusion about what food they can eat and how much of it they should eat.' Battle of the bulge
'Living a low-fat lifestyle is all about conquering your fear. Fear the food will taste like cardboard? Fear it will be too hard in this stress-filled world? Fear you'll deprive yourself or others of yummy food? The key is to learn some luscious life tips - rules you can use on a daily basis that make living low-fat that much easier.'
