BBC Bitesize Revision

The BBC’s revision site is of such good quality it’s worth the tedious amount of time it takes to download.

It’s called Bitesize Revision, but the logo is a whale with its mouth wide open which kind of ruins the idea that you’re in for digestible nuggets of information. You’ll find three main sections: GCSE, Standard Grade and Key Stage 3 – broken down exactly as hard-bitten pupils and supportive parents will recognise.

The word ‘Bingo!’ springs to mind when the list of topics comes up within each subject. It covers what you need to know to answer exam questions, and gives easy-to-follow learning guides.

Beleaguered Year 11s facing GCSEs should take a look at the left-hand headings. ‘Screech’ is where your fifteen or sixteen-year-old can chat to peers in the same predicament. Most entries begin with ‘Help!!!!!!!!!!!’ or ‘Aaaaaaaargh!!!!!

But there’s a lot of fun to be found. Screech is great for letting off steam, helping to put the exams in perspective, and finding out you’re not alone in the cold, cruel world of GCSEs.

Another handy click is ‘SOS Teacher’ where you can search the Q&A library or send them a revision, homework or coursework question. And for children facing SATS, Bitesize is a gift: friendly, comprehensive, test-readiness for everyone.
