Egg carton multiplication

Older children can practise multiplication tables while playing this simple game. Each egg carton works as one multiplier. As your child masters higher numbers, add additional sets to help them increase their skills.

What this activity will develop:
Maths, thinking and social skills

What you'll need:

  • 1 egg carton for each multiplication table
  • 1 bean for each egg carton
  • Permanent markers

What to do:

  1. Number the cups in the carton from 1 to 12, using permanent markers.

  2. Print the number to be multiplied inside the lid.

  3. Place the bean inside the egg carton and close the lid.

  4. Print the answer for each cup on the bottom of the egg carton to make this activity self-checking.

Rules of play:

  1. Shake the carton. Open the lid to see what cup the bean is in.

  2. Multiply the number written on the lid by the number in the cup.

  3. Score by adding each correct product.
