Younger children may need assistance with the scissors and chain when creating this game, but they will enjoy all the other steps that involve drawing and gluing. This is an excellent game for helping your child develop his or her eye-hand co-ordination. What this activity will develop: Motor and art skills What you'll need: - Drawing paper
- Markers
- Christmas-card box
- Scissors
- Glue
- Small chain
- Masking tape
What to do: - Trace around the bottom of the box on the drawing paper.
- Use markers to draw a profile in the square, but don't draw the nose.
- Cut out the picture and glue it in the bottom of the box.
- Punch two holes in the picture, through the box, for the chain.
- Insert an end of the chain in each hole, and tape it securely at the back.
- Slide the bottom of the box into the lid.
How to use: - Shake the box gently to move the chain. The chain will form the nose of the profile.
- Try making different kinds of noses: long, short, thin, turned-up or bumpy.
