Make Mother's Day special with home-made pressies
Forget the burnt toast and spilled orange juice this Mother's Day - help the little darlings make you something you'll really want to treasure.
The 3-D daffodil card  This card is easy to make, and will look fabulous on your mantelpiece too.
What you need: - Coloured card (green and yellow)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Crayons or glitter pens
What to do: - Fold an A4 (30cm x 21cm) piece of green card in half to make the card.
- Cut a strip of yellow card, 5cm by 12 1/2cm.
- Roll the strip up to make a tube and secure the end with glue or tape.
- Help your child cut little slits about 3mm in around both ends of the tube.
- At one end push the flaps inwards to make a flat bottom for the tube.
- Attach the tube to the centre of the green card with glue and fluff out the flaps at the other end of the tube to make the daffodil's trumpet.
- Cut about eight petal shapes out of the rest of the yellow paper and let your child stick them down in a circle around the trumpet.
- Draw on the flower's stem and leaves with some green crayons or glitter pens and help your child to write a message on the front and inside.
Ladybird paperweight  This is simple to make and will really cheer up your desk.
What you need: - A large, round flat stone
- Ready-mixed red poster paint
- A large black felt tip pen
- Clear varnish
- Small piece of felt
- PVA Glue
What to do: - Make sure the stone is clean and dry, then paint all over with the red paint. Leave to dry for about half an hour.
- Draw a line along the length of the stone with black pen, then draw on some big black spots and colour them in.
- Colour the ladybird's 'face' in black and add some eyes.
- Leave to dry for about an hour.
- When dry, apply a thin layer of clear varnish and leave to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- When dry, cut a small circle of felt and glue to the bottom of the ladybird.
Egg box jewellery case  Help your little treasure make a funky kitsch container for all your other little treasures.
What you need: - An egg carton
- Ready-mixed pink poster paint
- PVA glue
- Marabou trim
- Stick-on gems
- Glitter pens
What to do: - Paint the egg box inside and out with the pink paint and leave to dry for at least an hour.
- Stick some pretty jewels on the tops of the box to decorate.
- Dab glue around the top edge of the egg box and attach the marabou trim.
- Write the word 'Jewels' on the top with glitter pens and leave to dry for a couple of hours.
Mummy's photo frame  Turn a boring old wooden frame into a work of art fit to display photos of your little angels.
What you need: - Any old wooden frame
- Can of silver spray paint
- Glass beads
- Glitter pen
- PVA glue
What to do: - Spray the frame all over with the silver paint and leave to dry. It's best to do this outside on some newspaper.
- When dry, glue some glass beads to the corners of the frame.
- Help your child write a message in glitter pen at the top of the frame.
- Put your favourite picture of your little helpers inside.
Pretty tissue box  Glamorise your dressing table with a customised tissue box.
What you need: - Box of tissues
- Silver spray paint or poster paint
- Stick-on jewels
- PVA glue
What to do: - Spray your tissue box with silver paint or cover with poster paint and leave to dry.
- Stick the tiny gems in a pretty pattern on the top and sides of the box.
- Simple, but effective!
Mummy's little flower picture  Show your child what a little petal he is by turning him into a flower baby.
What you need: - A clip frame
- Flower petals (real or silk)
- A picture of your little one
- Coloured card or paper
- Glitter pens
- PVA glue
What to do: - Cut the piece of coloured card into rectangle the same size as the frame.
- Cut around the picture of your child's face to make the centre of the flower and glue it to the card.
- If you are using real flower petals, press them a couple of days before by placing them flat between two pieces of kitchen paper in the middle of a heavy book.
- Glue the petals in a circle around your baby's face to make the flower.
- Draw on the stem and flower pot with glitter pens or felt tips.
- When dry, place the glass over the frame and clip into place.
- Hang in pride of place and add a new one each year as your little flower grows.
