Bluebell and the fairyland ball

It is barely two weeks old, but the Your Short Stories message board is already bubbling with talent. Here's a magical fairy tale from the board - written by iVillager serephinaangel's 10-year-old daughter

Once upon a time in a far away land, lived a fairy named Bluebell. She was a very nice fairy and had pretty blond hair with lovely blue eyes. She wore beautiful blue dresses and wanted to help everyone and everything, though she couldn't as she was still quite young; about eighteen in our age. She got what she wanted one day though and much, much more.

When the fairyland ball came up, all of the fairies over the world came. The guardian fairies, the tooth fairies, the colour fairies, the flower fairies, and every fairy you can imagine. The problem was Bluebell was a guardian fairy, and a fairy for the queen and a part-time tooth-fairy worker and...a flower fairy. Her schedule for the week was:

Monday: Go on an errand for the queen, go to the girl who I am Guardian to, collect the fairy juice from the rainbow tulip, then go to the United Kingdom and collect the teeth from there.

Tuesday: Go to the girl who I am guardian to, have a cup of strawberry-sprinkle chocolate soda with the queen, grind the pollen out of the maple flower to make syrup stalks, then go to tooth-world to help my tooth-fairy boss decorate the castle with the new teeth that came through the week before.

And it goes on like that. Now, let me tell you a secret...when Bluebell was at the queen's palace drinking a cup of strawberry-sprinkle chocolate soda, the queen asked Bluebell to organise the annual fairyland ball, which everyone would come to.

When Bluebell was a young fairy her mummy told her all about Blossom; the fairy who had organised the fairyland ball. Now, Blossom had gone on holiday to a lovely place beside Santa's workshop and decided to live there and help Santa. Now Blossom got fed-up with the fairy queen back in fairyland and before the holiday had said she would never come back - and she kept her word. So Bluebell was asked to organise the annual fairyland ball.

She was asked to cancel a number of clubs and jobs. So she started right away. She worked day and night making swirley-wirley twizzle sticks, banana flavoured chocolate sherbet lollies and strawberry angel toffees, lemon and lime gum drops, big chocolate and heart-shaped chocolates and banana gateau and lime fizzy soda and lots more things.

She worked hard through the week making costumes for everyone in the fairyland, as well as the queen especially. It was pale pink with blue satin flowers climbing up the bottom and big blue and pink flowers sitting on the shoulder straps, and at the back a most wonderful, most beautiful cross tie-up ribbon. Bluebell had made the queen a beautiful necklace, with winding flowers making the string, diamonds and rubies and emeralds and pearls dripping off the flowers and the beautiful fairyland logo at the base.

No one could make a more beautiful necklace. Bluebell made herself and her other fairyland friends a dress, or suit as well, but the queen's was the best. She flew around fairyland dropping off the beautiful outfits and the carefully handmade invitations. Bluebell also went to the fairyland post office to post an invitation to every fairy in the world. Bluebell made sure that everyone had outfits for the annual fairyland ball. The invitations said:

Dear ____________
Come to our annual ball on
Sunday 1st of December
At
7:00pm
Please bring a present for the queen
Thank you,
Love
Bluebell

On the morning of the ball, Bluebell flew to the fairyland town hall, where the fairyland ball was to be held. Bluebell set up the silver tables and chairs and the two massive silver buffet tables. On the tablecloths there were lilac and blue flowers winding up the two longest sides. She made a sweet-looking place card with the fairies names on. In the far center of the room was a dance floor with flowers around the edge, (which were lilac and blue) the flowers would make music for the fairies to boogie too.

Bluebell rang her friend Tulip:
'Hi Tulip, will you come down to come and help me put the balloons and a few other jobs to do about the Ball.'
'Yes sure, see you soon.'
'Bye bye.'

When Tulip came over they put up balloons above the dance floor and they put the food on the buffet tables, savory and sweet. They put flowers around the middle of the tables, they put a big silver tree up and tinsel and holly. Then they put up paper chains and lights. It looked magical.

Tulip and Bluebell went home to change into their lovely dresses, then they flew to the town hall, to meet the guests, when they arrived. The queen arrived first in her fairy-limo. As she walked in hand in hand with Bluebell her beautiful blue eyes lit up to match the flowers on her dress. Her glossy pink lips shone in the silver lights and her glamorous red hair looked more glamorous than ever.

Soon everyone was in the hall boogying and eating and admiring the wonderful hall that was normally pine and boring in this magical silver wonderland.

At the end of the ball, the fairy queen stood on the stage looking every inch a perfect queen and handed Bluebell with a beautiful trophy with flowers inside. Everyone cheered and whistled and clapped. It was brilliant.

Bluebell started up all her jobs and was happy and cheerful.
