There's no denying that we're fast approaching that time of year again. Open fires, the smell of pine and the faint sound of bells jingling. You just can't help feeling a little nostalgic.
iVillagers have certinaly been getting in the mood. Here, posters on the Music and Movies message board reveal their favourite Christmas films of all time.
It's a Wonderful Life
For me THE Christmas film. Every year since I can remember, my family and I curl up on the couch with a mug of mulled wine each and watched it on Christmas Eve. It is such a brilliant tradition, despite my mum and me ending up in tears every time!
Miracle on 34th Street
It has to be Miracle on 34th Street and it has to be watched on Christmas Eve. Every year we watch it while making mince pies ready for Santa. Flour and pastry everywhere, and shouting at the telly: 'He loves you, you fool, marry him!' We started with the black and white version but much prefer the new colour version.
Flash Gordon
One film that reminds me of Christmas but is rarely on TV! It used to be on every Christmas Eve when I was younger. Me and my dad used to go to my nan's house to do the turkey for the dinner next day while my mum was at work. My nan and auntie would then go out to midnight mass.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
It's a Wonderful Life will always be a favourite, but I have a few more that I just have to watch every single year. Firstly, Home Alone reminds me of being a little kid again! I also have to watch National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (absolutely hilarious!) and a movie called A Christmas Story about a little boy named Ralphie who wants a BB gun from Santa for Christmas.
A Christmas Story
What a fantastic film! I have it on a really crappy years-and-years old VHS, I have never been able to find it in the shops and I really can't bear to throw it away in spite of the bad quality. I laugh my head off every time I watch it. I love the scene where the mother is dressing Randy (Ralphie's brother) for school and he is wrapped in so many layers that he can't put his arms down and has to run to school with them sticking out!
