kiki-jiji's 10 beauty commandments
- For full, sexy lips: colour your lips with a dark kohl lip pencil blended with lip gloss on top.
- Quick-fix for a dry scalp: use some water-based leave-in conditioner (especially the stuff for afro braids/dreads) and massage into the area that's dry. This way you don't have to rewash your hair to get rid of it.
- For instant neat eyebrows, use a slick of lip balm.
- For spots, use a white skin ointment instead of concealer to take the redness right down and heal it in the process.
- On greasy/bad hair days keep some little hair clips to hand and clip back little sections of hair at the front over your head (criss-crossing is nice) to cover your scalp and make your hair look pretty.
- Tesco's Pro-V shampoo & conditioner is excellent (and so cheap) for dry hair- and it's not tested on animals.
- When tweezing, put heavy pressure at the base of the hair and pull hair in direction of growth for pain-free plucking.
- Make your legs easier to shave and less likely to cut by mixing oil in with your suds - extra virgin olive oil or vitamin E oil, for example.
- Keep a spare pair of black pull-up stockings for when you haven't got time to shave your legs.
- People having a bad hair/face day look worse when they're not smiling. Smile, for heaven's sake! It does make all the difference. No-one finds a miserable face attractive.

tomato2002's 6 great beauty quick fixes
- Vaseline! It makes a fab lip balm, eye make-up remover and eyebrow tamer and if you have dry feet, smother with Vaseline before you go to bed and wear cotton socks. In the morning your feet will be oh-so-soft and ready to buff!
- If you get a spot, put a blob of toothpaste on it overnight to reduce the swelling.
- Buy a white eyeshadow. I use it in the bottom inner corners of my eyes to open them up, underneath my eyebrows to have the same effect, and on my lids to brighten them up. Works a treat.
- Put baby oil in your bath water to soak your skin and leave it feeling soft and silky.
- Wear your day face cream under your foundation as a base and put a little foundation and powder on your eyes to make sure your eyeshadow lasts longer.
- Eat tomatoes because they're sooo good for you!

diablogem's tried-and-tested tips
- Cleanse, tone and moisturise twice daily, this is one of the key steps to getting your skin in the best condition.
- Drink two litres of water a day, and eat five fruit and veg.
- Honey is great for hair and skin - it has antibacterial properties, so you can use it as a face mask, and you can add sugar for a facial exfoliator, or rock salt for a body exfoliator.

Make-up musts from grace83
- Mineral water and lots of it.
- Johnson's baby moisturiser - it's the best moisturiser I have ever used and it's so cheap, and great for sensitive skin, as it's formulated for babies.
- Well-groomed eyebrows frame your face so if you own nothing else, own an eyebrow kit.
- Only ever make one feature stand out on your face - i.e. eyes OR lips - to do both will make a mish-mash on your face and will be way too dramatic for 99 percent (one word) of situations.
- Confidence. If you believe you look good, you will look good. Confidence makes you glow!

Beauty know-how by mannysbird
- Always wash make-up off at night, preferably with a medicated face wash, then apply a good moisturiser.
- Don't be afraid to try new looks with your make-up - you may find one look that suits you better than your previous one, so experiment.
- Invest in good-quality make-up, you'll get more use and it's better for your skin.
- Have a different look for day and night. People won't notice that you look any different if you do the same thing with your make-up, all day, every day.
- Take advice from other people. If your mate says that a colour doesn't suit you, it more than likely doesn't!
- Only scrub your face once a week - skin is sensitive and doesn't like to be scrubbed too often.
- When you take a face mask off, splash your face with cold water as this closes your pores. Don't put make-up on straight after you've removed a mask because this just fill your pores with rubbish again.
- Put concealer over the top of foundation and not underneath.
- Don't wear make-up everyday - let your skin breath from time to time.
- Use Benefit 'Benetint' on your cheeks - this product gives you the best natural rosy-cheeked look ever.

kristi_37's beauty solutions
- White eyeliner worn on the lower inside rims of lids really opens up small eyes.
- If you're having a really bad face day, don't wear normal make-up, it will just emphasise spots and won't help them clear up. Use tinted moisturiser, concealer and a little mascara or lippy.
- In winter, face self-tanners are great for pasty skin. I use one by Clinique and put it on at night. In the morning, I have more of a glow to my skin. It doesn't go dark or orangey either and there are no streaks!
- No shaving gel? Use hair conditioner, it stops skin drying out.
- For coarse, dry, parched hair, use a tiny blob of Brylcreem (yes you read that right). It works as a great hair moisturiser - just rub some through the ends, not near roots.
