The A-list ladies looking swell

Being a size 00 may be en vogue among some Hollywood starlets, but voluptuous figures and curvaceous frames are definitely here to stay

Those fuller-figured ladies like Jennifer Lopez and Kate Winslet are making a return to the big screen, and their hourglass figures are turning more heads than their skinny counterparts.

Almost every recent survey (and not just the male-only polls) has concluded that curves rule, and the most desired and desirable feminine physique is a rounded one. If you want proof, look no futher than these hourglass celebrity photos!

Here are some shapely celebrities who are proud of their Rubenesque figures and aren't afraid of using their assets to their advantage

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez J-Lo has been credited with changing perceptions of the perfect body with her 36-26-39 form, and regularly tops polls of the sexiest women in the world. The 37-year-old Latina lovely even earned the nickname 'La Guitarra' (meaning the guitar) because of her amazing curves.

Food philosophy

Although she admits she can easily gain weight, 'Jenny from the block' never denies herself anything. 'I eat everything, just not a lot of it,' she says. 'I don't have anything banned from my diet and I'm not one of those health freaks who believes in not eating any sugar or leaving out dairy products. I believe in having a little bit of everything. Like anybody, I indulge once in a while.'

Looking good

'When I was younger, I was into hard, physical exercise, but now what's more important to me is finding a balance of mind, body and spirit,' says Jen. 'I still do weights and cardio, but I try to take a soft, feminine approach. Basically, I'm just like anybody else; you have the body type you have, and you know what you have to do to get in top form. I'm only human, and sometimes I feel like working out, and sometimes I don't.'

Top treats

'I love chocolate-chip cookies with coffee - that makes me feel good. I could eat chocolates like there is no tomorrow, but otherwise, it's Puerto Rican food. That's what I grew up on.'

Kelly Brook

Kelly Brook Kelly, 26, who is dating Hollywood hunk Billy Zane, claims to never over-exercise or diet. The 5'8' presenter-turned-actress's vital statistics are an impressive 32E-24-35, and she says she manages to stay in shape through, wait for it, regular sex!

Food philosophy

'I'm a fan of macrobiotics because I love the idea of eating what's growing in your surroundings - seasonal, organic and whatnot,' says Kelly, who was a friend of Madonna's during her relationship with Guy Ritchie's close pal Jason Statham. 'I think I'm different because I'm not one of those skinny girls like Sarah Jessica Parker. They are thin, thin, thin!'

Looking good

The former glamour model has always been proud of her physique. 'I have never been ashamed of my body,' she says. 'Regardless of what hair colour you have, what you look like, what you do for a living even; it's all about how you feel, and about being comfortable in your own skin. I hardly do anything at all to keep in shape. I rarely watch what I eat or go to the gym.'

Top treats

Despite all her talk of healthy eating, Kelly is a junk food fan at heart. 'I really love cheeseburgers, that's my biggest weakness,' she confesses.

Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet Curvy Kate, 31, admits she is never going to be a stick insect, and her generous frame also means she has size 11 feet. She has never been afraid to bare her voluptuous figure, as demonstrated by her roles in Titanic, Romance and Cigarettes and, more recently, Little Children.

Food philosophy

'I'm certainly not a sex symbol who doesn't eat,' declares the British beauty. 'I accept I am a womanly shape. I try to take care of myself but I am not freaky about it. I still eat things I shouldn't, smoke too much, but never around the kids, work out when I have to rather than when I want to.'

Looking good

Kate's body has come under intense scrutiny throughout her career, and she has taken on the challenge of championing the cause of curvy women.

'I'm proud,' she says. 'I like the way I look. Why is it that women think that in order to be adored they have to be thin? I just don't understand that way of thinking. All I know from the men I've ever spoken to is that they like their girls to have an arse on them.'

Top treats

'I like Marmite on toast,' says Kate, who also has a fondness for curry and Chinese food.

Beyonce Knowles

Beyonce Knowles Her weight has been the subject of much attention of late after she lost more than a stone for a film role, but Beyonce, 25, was delighted to get back into her low-maintenance regime as soon as filming was done. 'At the wrap party, the day after filming they had these cupcakes,' she giggles. 'I ate about 12!'

Food philosophy

'A bit of what you fancy' is the motto for the Texan lovely, who admits to craving fried chicken. 'When I'm working, I do take care of myself,' says the singer and actress. 'The only good thing is I work a lot so I try to eat healthily and stay away from bad food.'

Looking good

'I'm happy with curves, I'm a real woman,' says Beyonce, whose shapely thighs and bum caught the eye of her rapper fiance Jay-Z. She explains: 'I am not naturally skinny. The pressure that people put you under, the pressure to be thin, is unbelievable. The song Bootylicious is a celebration of curves and a celebration of women's bodies.'

Top treats

Slimming down for her role in Dreamgirls meant Beyonce got to scoff all the junk food she wanted once filming was over. 'I ordered fries, and I had ribs, and I ate pasta, and I drank red wine,' says the Crazy In Love singer, who also adores Krispy Kreme doughnuts. 'I ate cheeseburgers, French fries; everything I could find. That was the best time of my life.'

Scarlett Johnasson

Scarlett Johansson Scarlett's hourglass figure has captivated men across the world, and the fact she is so comfortable in her own skin has impressed women too. Although young, the Black Dahlia star was described by Woody Allen as 'sexually overwhelming' because of her ripe body.

Food philosophy

'Americans are overly obsessed with weight,' says Scarlett. 'I don't understand this obsession for being stick-thin. I could never be like that; it's just not my body shape. I would never stress about losing my curves, because curves are what make women look like women. They are what make you look sexy.'

Looking good

Scarlett, who lives in New York with boyfriend Josh Hartnett, loves walking and tennis but shuns the gym. 'I am normal. I have "fat days" and it's hard not to feel pressure in this industry,' she admits. 'I'm never going to be 5'11' and 120 pounds but I feel lucky to have what I've got. I'm very comfortable with my body and I'm proud of my breasts! I'm not really the type of girl who goes to the gym for three hours a day and gets up to go jogging at 6am, but I eat well and I walk a lot.'

Top treats

Her favourite food is pepperoni pizza or a turkey burger and chips, but the Lost In Translation beauty's tip is simple: 'Only eat half!'

Halle Berry

Halle Berry Being a gymnast when she was younger has helped 39-year-old Halle stay in great shape over the years, and being fit and healthy is part of her strategy to keep her 36-22-37 curves intact. Voted one of the sexiest Bond girls ever for her role as orange bikini-clad Jinx, the Oscar-winning actress has dared to bare in several films, including Swordfish and Monster's Ball.

Food philosophy

'Diabetes turned out to be a gift,' says Halle, who was diagnosed with the illness 17 years ago. 'It gave me strength and toughness because I had to face reality, no matter how uncomfortable or painful it was. I started to eat loads of wonderful fresh vegetables, chicken, fresh fish and pasta.'

Looking good

Built like a real woman, Halle is also proud to be redefining what it means to be 'hot'. 'For so many years, black women have been desexualised,' she says. 'If you weren't blonde with blue eyes, then you weren't sexy in America. I think it's starting to change. For a long time I battled trying to feel sexy because I didn't think I was.'

There have only been a few roles where Halle has played up to her amazing form. 'It is very sexy, feels good and makes you feel very confident,' she said of her Catwoman outfit, which drew more praise than the film itself. 'You have to look your best in it because it hides nothing, and you have to be curvy to wear it.'

Top treats

'I have a real weakness for hamburgers and Diet Coke,' she admits. 'I do eat healthily but I can't resist a burger and a Coke. I drink Diet Coke all day long. Other people drink water, I drink Coke.'
