The pop star and actress puts to rest rumours about her ex, talks about her movie ambitions and how her mother is getting more luck with men than she is

Things have been pretty crazy in your life recently, how have you been coping?

Jessica Simpson: 'It's been crazy but I wouldn't have it any other way. I've been doing really well. I've been working hard so I've been kept busy.'

Looking back, do you have any regrets about what happened to you and (former husband) Nick Lachey?

Jessica Simpson: 'No not at all, not for a second. I will never speak negatively about Nick or my marriage. I still love Nick to this day and I will love him to the day I die.'

Was the media coverage of your split difficult to cope with?

Jessica Simpson: 'There's no way to cope with it. You just have to ignore it and get on with life. What has gone on between us has nothing to do with what is public and what is in the tabloids but it is difficult, yes. It's been extremely painful but I don't want to sing the sad song anymore, I want to have fun and dance around!'

What did you think of the 'Team Nick' and 'Team Jessica' tee-shirts that people were wearing around LA?

Jessica Simpson:'I don't like that stuff. That makes our entire marriage a joke.'

Do you still speak to Nick?

Jessica Simpson: 'Absolutely. We're still friends and we speak often on the phone.'

Do guys try and hit on you now they know you are single?

Jessica Simpson: 'They don't really hit on me. There are the guys who try to make eye contact if you are out somewhere or whatever. Then when they get that eye contact they think they are in. So I try to avoid that and keep my eyes to the floor!'

What's the most bizarre thing a guy has done to try and impress you?

Jessica Simpson: 'Last week a guy tried to hit on my mum. He was saying how gorgeous, young and sexy looking she was but he was also kind of hitting on me too. I think this guy knew that I really love my mum and thought he could get to me like that.'

Do you think you will ever marry again?

Jessica Simpson: 'God, I don't know. Someone would really have to sweep me off my feet. I can't even think about that now.'

As well as shoes, you also have your own line in cosmetics, clothes and perfume. Is it true you have now expanded into wigs?

Jessica Simpson: 'It is true. I have my own wig line. Because who doesn't want to change their hair every other day? I'm the kind of girl who likes to have her hair long one day, short one day, blonde, red and back again the next day, so I love wigs.'

Are you still determined to make it in movies as well as music?

Jessica Simpson: 'Music will always be my number one priority but I do love acting and I want to do more movies, absolutely. I've got other projects lined up so I'm going to be busy with everything.'

Are you still very close to your sister, Ashlee?

Jessica Simpson: 'Very. I was just with her last week. She's doing awesome. The last year has brought us closer together I think. She's a real rock. My whole family and I have got closer I think, maybe because I was living with them for about a month after I broke up with Nick. Now I feel like a completely different person and a lot of that is down to them.'

You're often ranked as one of the sexiest women in the world, what would you say is your best and worst feature?

Jessica Simpson: 'I don't know if it's my best but my favourite feature is my nose. I have a bump on my nose which I love. It's an imperfection but that's why I love it. As for worst feature, I wish I was taller, then I could wear all those dresses that don't fit me.'
