We all multi-task, so why shouldn't the products we use? Not only does it mean we have more room in our cupboards (always good), but we also save money (even better) and there is something terrifically pleasing about finding a new, unadvertised use for something
- This is an easy and brilliant trick: Wind sellotape, sticky side out, around your hand and you have an instant clothes fluff and pet hair remover.
- Hair straighteners are of course brilliant at straightening hair, but you can also use them to curl your hair (turn the straighteners outwards and pull down on your hair as though you were curling paper with scissors) and they also come in handy if you are feeling a bit rumpled and want to iron your shirt collar and cuffs without getting the iron out.
- Honey is a fabulous cooking ingredient and healthy sweetener, but did you know it?s also a very soothing antimicrobial face mask? And tastes significantly better than any other mask I?ve tried.
- We could all do with washing our makeup brushes a little more often. When you eventually get around to it add a little bicarbonate of soda (usually used to make dough rise) to the soap, it will remove any stale old smells.
- Nail varnish remover gets rid of fake tan streaks. How cool is that?
- Eyebrows are back! But with years of plucking behind us many are left with rather straggly, whispy ones. Eyebrow pencils can be notoriously tricky to use - last time I tried I looked like Susan Boyle, pre-makeover. So try using a non-shimmery, neutral brown eye shadow to very lightly dust through them to fill in the gaps.
- And talking of eyebrows, you can use a tiny drop of clear lip gloss to fix them in place. Clear or very sheer lip gloss can also be used along the top of your cheekbones as a highlighter ? but I suggest trying this one out at home first before you venture out.
- Vaseline, as well as being an all time fabulous moisturiser (try slathering cracked heels in it before bed and then sleeping in socks), is also sensational at removing even the most tenacious mascara.
- Disposable shower caps are designed to keep your hair dry, but try leaving your conditioner in, slap on a plastic shower cap and leave it on while you get on with the rest of your ablutions. The heat generated by your head will be trapped by the cap and you will get a speedy ten minute conditioning treatment. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.
- Sensing our desire for multi-tasking products Nair has come up with the ultimate beauty product, their Exfoliating Hair Removal Cream [should link to http://www.naircare.co.uk/p_creams_exfoliating_information.php ] not only does what it says on the tin ? exfoliates you to a satin smooth finish and removes every last pesky hair ? but it also moisturises you to within an inch of your life. True genius.
