1. Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor
Ben Stiller had arranged a perfect proposal but forgot one important thing - the ring! While his girlfriend was away the actor went to her house and decorated it with rose petals and candles. When she returned Christine found Ben on bended knee. But as he went to give her the ring he realised he had left it in his rucksack in her bedroom. Luckily she still said yes!
2. Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown
Love it or hate it, Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown had the kind of relationship that got a lot of attention. When Brown proposed to Houston, he made sure he got her attention with not one but two rings. After arriving home from dinner one evening, he popped the question and gave her a small engagement ring, and as she later told one magazine: 'Immediately I started crying, and I said Yes, I'll marry you!' But then Brown took out an even bigger ring. Houston added: 'I was so surprised that I cried harder.'
3. Katherine Heigl and Josh Kelley
The couple met when Katherine was cast as the love interest in his video for the song Only You. When Josh proposed several years later, he took Katherine back to the house where the video was shot in Venice, California and asked her to be his wife.
4. Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott
Dean hung up fairy lights along a path stretching half a mile and took Tori on a romantic horse-drawn carriage along the lighted track. The illuminations led to a table surrounded by beautifully decorated Christmas trees where he got down on one knee and declared his love.
5. Rebecca Romijn & Jerry O'Connell
In lieu of a grand public proposal, actor Jerry O'Connell and actress Rebecca Romijn got engaged in a personal place. While visiting New York, O'Connell took Romijn on a tour of the apartment where he spent his childhood and then asked for her hand in marriage.
6. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
After a mere two months of dating, Tom Cruise didn't waste much time before he proposed to Katie Holmes. He popped the question at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The smitten actor also treated his bride-to-be to a candle-lit meal inside the Tower at the top-notch eatery, Le Jules Verne. Tom was so excited about their betrothal that he spilled all the beans at a press conference the next morning, where we were forced to witness the pair's PDA - again!
7. Heidi Klum and Seal
Seal pulled out all the stops for his extraordinary proposal to Heidi Klum. The singer whisked his supermodel girlfriend off in a helicopter and, while most of us would probably be chuffed with just that, he didn't stop there. He flew Heidi to the top of a 14,000 ft glacier where he had arranged for a specially-made igloo to be built. Inside was a bed covered in rose petals, dozens of candles and plenty of food and Champagne for them to celebrate with. Heidi later described it as a 'once-in-a-lifetime event', the lucky lady!
8. Courteney Cox and David Arquette
Funny man David Arquette tapped into his softer side when he popped the question to Courteney Cox. He proposed on a beach in Florida and arranged for fireworks to go off at the precise moment he asked her to marry him. Ahh bless!
9. Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman
Christina Aguilera's diva heart was well and truly melted when her music executive boyfriend Jordan Bratman proposed in one of the most touching ways imaginable. Whilst the pair were on holiday in Carmel, California, he stuffed their hotel room full with rose petals and gift boxes. Each box contained a present and a self-penned poem describing his feelings for the songstress. To her delight, when she finally opened the last box, she found a stunning five-carat ring and Jordan proceeded to get down on one knee and ask her to marry him.
10. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones
The eve of the millennium was the date, and the Aspen home of Hollywood producer and actor Michael Douglas was the setting for a New Year's proposal.
Following an evening of celebration to see in the new year/century/millennium, Douglas presented actress Catherine Zeta-Jones with an antique, 10-carat marquise-cut diamond ring. Zeta-Jones, then two months pregnant with the couple's son, said yes, whereupon the couple announced their engagement to the expectant press.
