History/cache file: if an abuser knows how to read your computers history or cache file (automatically saved web pages and graphics), he or she may be able to see information you have viewed recently on the Internet. You can clear your history or empty your cache file in your browsers settings and should do this regularly.
Heres how to do it
Select Tools
Select Internet Options
On General page, under Temporary Internet Files, click on Delete Files
Under History, click on Clear History
Click OK
Select Edit
Select Preferences
Under Navigator in left column, click on History. In right column select Clear History
Click on Clear Location Bar
Click OK
Pull down Options menu. Select Network Options
Select Cache and click on Clear Disk Cache
Pull down Members menu
Select Preferences
Click on WWW icon. Select Advanced Purge Cache
Select Edit
Select Preferences
Click on Clear history
Cache: click on Empty now
Log out
Remember to log out of iVillage when you leave, otherwise your member name will be stored and show up on the homepage when you next visit. To log out, click on this log out link, at the top of any message board or on the iVillage homepage.
Although these security tips wont remove all traces, they will help to cover most of your tracks. Many browsers have features that display recently visited sites. The safest way to surf the Internet is at your local library, an Internet cafe, a friends house, or at work providing your employer doesnt mind.
