Tit for tat cheating
Dear Sally Ann,
I cheated on my boyfriend a while ago. I felt really guilty and told him. Since then we have split up and got back together. Now he is going away with his mates to America and I'm really worried that he might cheat on me. What shall I do?
Your boyfriend must feel battered and bruised. Don't say anything about his fidelity before he goes. You have no rights in that department at the moment and, anyway, it won't achieve anything. If you can make him feel secure, though, and wanted, he will be more likely to want to be faithful to you. Fidelity is only ever willingly bestowed.
When you cheated, you felt the need to be honest about it. If that is important to you, then talk to you boyfriend about that when he gets back. What you must both avoid is a tit for tat situation that will lead inevitably to another bust-up.
