A guy has been chasing me for weeks, coming into my workplace and asking me out. I agreed to go out with him and gave him my number and now I haven't heard anything. Why?

Oh Claire, you may as well ask me how nuclear fusion works. Though even that would take less time, and be simpler, than trying to explain the inexplicable machinations of men. A few years ago, The Body Shop compiled a book of thousands of women's responses to the question: What Do Women Really Want? One woman said that, although she'd like World peace, she would settle for 'when a man says he'll call on Thursday, he calls on Thursday.'

Perhaps your fella died/emigrated/got cold feet/realised you were too good for him/was only in it for the challenge and then felt satisfied enough when you gave him your number? Perhaps his girlfriend found the number and threw it away? Or maybe he's just been too busy to call you yet and still will? They're all equally likely, but if he shows up again, play hard to get and don't ask him why he didn't phone you. Quite often, even they don't know the answer.
