Single and sick of it

by Sally Ann Lasson

question
I'm currently 36, single, attractive (or so people tell me), am fun-loving and have a good job. I also have a happy, lively six-year-old. My problem is that I'm fed up with being single (I've been separated for two years now), but men never stick around. Interest either comes from the completely obsessive - phone you 10 times a day, send umpteen text messages and want to move in straightaway, or see you twice before it fizzles out. Am I doing something wrong or is there a knack to getting men to hang around?

answer
You are completely normal. Men split into three types: obsessive, casual, and the ones we want. I suppose that having a child ups the anti, but I don't think you're doing anything wrong: you just haven't met the right guy. You're going out, you're meeting people, you're having a go, and you're being discerning. I know it's annoying, but give it time. The only thing you might consider doing is enlarging your social scene so that you meet your type of bloke. Good luck!
