'Course, these days it's all digital love with textual predictors and facebook pokes. But Valentine's Day is about sentimentality, so join us as we stroll down memory lane and revisit the love games of our infatuated youth...
M.A.S.H
A pen-and-paper classic guaranteed to predict your future in strange detail.
1. On a piece of paper write five answers for each of the following categories: future spouse, cars, colour (of car), number of children, city, career.
2. List half the categories down the left hand side of the page and the other half down the right, leaving a space in the middle where you write 'M.A.S.H'.
3. Start drawing a spiral, stop at any moment and count the number of rings, this decides the 'magic number'.
4. Count through the categories crossing out each answer which falls on the 'magic number' until you are left with only one answer per category.
5. Do the same with the letters of 'M.A.S.H' to discover your future abode (M - mansion, A - attic, S - shed, H - house).
Apple stalk divination
Not as specific as M.A.S.H but less biased as the player has little control over the outcome. This game will reveal your future spouse's initials. You will need: one apple.
1. Twist the apple stalk while reciting the alphabet. The letter which falls on the final twist (when the stalk comes off) is your spouse's first initial.
2. Tap the stalk against the side of the apple while reciting the alphabet. The letter which falls on the final tap (when the apple's skin breaks) is your spouse's second initial.
