Fame after an affair

A relatively recent 'celebrity' phenomenon is the woman who became famous simply by association with the famous man she bedded. Is this a legitimate route to fame?

There have been a number of recent high-profile cases that have seen women become famous for no other reason than their affair with a well-known, often married public figure.

Do you view this as a case of 'job well done' on the part of the woman or are you shocked at the lengths some women will go to in order to forge a media career (and make a bundle of cash from selling the story)?

Should the men in question shoulder some of the blame? Are we, the general public, at fault for demonstrating a hunger for sensasionalist showbiz stories?
