Have we met?

Compiled by Ilana Arazie

How can you create quality time with your partner? iVillage members' share their tips.

It's around 9pm and you slump on to your bed feeling absolutely exhausted. Images of packing the children off to school, meetings at work, an unfinished report and vague conversations with your friends and sister flash through your tired mind. All you need is a quiet, relaxing evening with your man and an early night. You stroll into the sitting room hoping for some loving attention, but instead you find your husband glued to the news and a mess of children's toys spread all over the floor.

How can you create quality time with your partner when you're so busy and overtired? One iVillager 1suz worked out a way to fit in quality time with her fiancé and her daughter. 'Tonight, my fiancé and I carved a pumpkin together and lit a candle inside it. We then turned off the light and sat around the living room and told ghost stories to my daughter, before putting her to bed. It was actually really fun!'

However, if you can't imagine your husband giving up the news to carve holes in a pumpkin, then read on for other iVillage member suggestions. Book a babysitter, spruce yourselves up and get ready for some quality time.

Date Your Mate
'Find a babysitter and go out on a date. Don't just go out for dinner - go out dancing or somewhere exciting and act like teenagers again!' - twnrebel2

Put Each Other First
'Have similar priorities in life. Work and career should be important but not as important as your relationship. Be selective about the events and dinners you accept from other people. These events can fill up your calendar and take away from your couple time alone.' - Passion8
