Dear Dr Patti I have tried many sexual positions and still can't get fully aroused. Is there anything you can suggest?

First, sexual positions are not the Holy Grail of arousal, although they are certainly a part of satisfying sex.
Studies often show that the rear entry, or 'doggy style', position is the best for helping women reach orgasm. It also gives the male added visual or tactile pleasure and mobility for thrusting.
Most important, though, this position, combined with his body weight, the angle of his penile shaft on your vulva and his thrusting or pounding action, intensifies clitoral stimulation. Plus, this position frees his hands to rub your clitoris or touch your breasts, if you find this sexually arousing.
The ongoing debate is whether or not women have different types of orgasms. From my experience with hundreds of female clients, I believe there are three distinct types of orgasm: clitoral, G-spot and vaginal. In fact, if you include the anus there may even be four!
The front-to-back, or 'spoons', position can also work well. Lying on your side, with your partner facing your back and penetrating you from behind, can have a similar effect to the doggy position.
Check out the famous lovemaking manual Kama Sutra, available in most bookshops, and experiment with other positions that may give a bit more oomph to your love life. By experimenting, and being playful, I know you will find new ways to arouse and satisfy one another. So go for it!
