Review: The art of beautiful eyebrows and lashes

By Steffy Bambova Review: The art of beautiful eyebrows and lashes

Celebrities such as Cara Delevingne and Kim Kardashian are trendsetters whose style and beauty choices have more followers than Justin Bieber’s Twitter account. Fortunately this doesn’t only mean that we will all end up wearing body con dresses in daytime and make an embarrassing sex tape at some point in our life. No, I’m talking about a trend that actually looks good on most of us mere mortals – beautiful eyebrows that draw attention to our eyes. In with the strong, full brows and out with the rainbow shaped, pencilled creations that age everyone with at least ten years.

And what better place to get the perfect eyebrows and stunning long eyelashes than the newest brow and lash boutique iBrows etc.

Conveniently based in Central London, this place already has an established celeb following including Rochelle Humes of The Saturdays and Leigh-Anne Pinnock of Little Mix who have been creating a buzz around it in the social media world. So naturally I was very excited to see what all the fuss is about!

On my first visit to the iBrows saloon, I got to try out the HD Brows treatment which is a seven step brow treatment that uses branded products and leaves you with impeccable eyebrows.

Upon entering I was impressed with the stylish interior of the boutique, I felt like I should have made a bit more effort when dressing that day.

The brow shaping procedure involves threading, waxing and plucking which honestly wasn’t as painful as it sounds. But before proceeding with any hair removal, my brows were measured and their desired shape was sketched directly on my face.

Then it was on to tinting them which I was slightly nervous about due to the fact I have experienced the effects of having my eyebrows tinted in a shade that is way too dark for my complexion. However I had nothing to worry about because my beautician talked me through all the different shades they have and advised me which one would suit me best. The result was a natural chestnut brown colour which looked effortless.

The end result was exactly what I wanted and there were no nasty surprises like too dark eyebrows that make me look as though I’m wearing a wig.

A week later I went to try the boutique’s signature treatment – LVL Lashes. LVL stands for Length, Volume, Lift which is pretty much what we all want for our lashes. I was very specific about not wanting to get any lash extensions simply because I can’t be bothered with the maintenance. Luckily this treatment doesn't require any because it is completely natural and you just end up with the eyelashes you have always wanted as opposed to the eyelashes you couldn’t figure out how to glue on properly.

I was comfortably lying down throughout the entire procedure which lasted for approximately 45 minutes. Because my lashes were being lifted, straighten and tinted, it did feel slightly uncomfortable in the beginning but I got used it - to the point of failing to restrain myself from falling asleep.

Then I woke up with the most beautiful lashes I have ever had. They looked like I had a coat of mascara on when I didn’t have any make up on. They also looked longer, fuller and so natural – it was hard to stop admiring them.

The best part is that the treatment lasts for up to six weeks and the result after applying mascara on my ‘new’ lashes was incredible – I felt almost tempted to start fluttering them when talking to people!

I have to say three weeks after I had the LVL treatment, my eye lashes are still looking gorgeous, may be not as long as in the beginning but as we know all good things come to an end! Luckily I can always pay iBrows etc another visit…
