Rhydian's X Factor verdict

Writing exclusively for iVillage.co.uk, former X Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts gives his views on this year's finalists
Hi Guys
Welcome to my first exclusive X Factor column for iVillage.co.uk
I have been away for the last year recording my second album, O Fortuna, so it's good to be back.
I am loving the show this year. It is the first time since I appeared on the show in 2007 that I have watched from the beginning and followed it through. The show's production and staging are on a much bigger scale and it is great spectacle.
This week was movie week which I thought was particularly good. I remember being given themes each week and it was always quite challenging to find songs that suited my style but I think the guys all did well this weekend.
I thought Olly's performance was really good. He is a great entertainer and really gets the crowds going. I thought the Judges comments were a bit harsh to him as he was just enjoying himself and showing versatility. I definitely think he is one to watch!
So everybody is talking about John and Edward. I don't mind them. It's not their fault they are still in the competition as it is down to the public vote, so they are obviously doing something right.
They are 17 years old and going out there and having fun. Brain Friedman is bringing great productions to the show with them which I really like. It's genius what he is doing with them and their songs. They are definitely great entertainment.
I think Joe has the most balanced voice in the competition. I do think he would do brilliantly in musical theatre.
I have also been keeping and eye on Lucie from the start. Obviously she is from Wales and I like to support other talent from my neck of the woods. Vocally she has an amazing skill. She is great looking and I thought the song was good for her, but maybe it was too contemporary and I'm not sure some of the viewers would have known it.
The results were shocking!
John and Edward's sing off was very entertaining. I am sad for Lucie and it was a shame she was in the bottom two in the first place.
Keeping the twins in was always going to be controversial. I do think Simon made a good decision by taking it to deadlock. This is always the fairest way and lets the public be the final judge.
So there are my thoughts on this week! I will be writing my column every week to give you my thoughts on the show and what I have been up to so be sure to keep checking back.
Lots of love,
Rhydian x
