For Sale board – terms and conditions
By using the For Sale board on iVillage.co.uk, you agree to follow the terms and conditions outlined below. Any posts that break these terms, or the general terms of the site, will be removed.
General behaviour
As with all boards, we expect you to follow the rules of play, but please also refrain from:
• Backing out of buying or selling an item, if you do need to make alternative arrangements, please give the buyer/seller plenty of notice.
• Deliberately misrepresent an item.
• Link to eBay or other auction site listings.
• Selling from or promoting a business – these sales are strictly personal only.
• Posting links to your items for sale on any other iVillage boards.
• Posting duplicate posts offering the same item or items.
• Revealing your full address.
Please edit the post once the item has been sold, swapped or given away to make it clear that the item is no longer available.
iVillage cannot adjudicate between buyers and sellers, and cannot and will not verify the claims of traders.
Please make sure you post in the right folder.
How do I advertise something?
Firstly, choose the relevant folder, any items for sale posted in the Going Free folder, for example, will be removed.
Click ‘Start a discussion’ and make sure you’re clear in the subject about what you have available and – in the case of the swaps folder – what you would like in return.
Be as descriptive as possible in the main body of the post. Encourage interested members to ask for more details/arrange the sale through the private message system.
How do I buy something?
Contact the seller by private message (click on their name and you should then see their profile, with the link to send a private message on the right-hand side). Any arrangements to buy should be done through private message.
Exchanging money
We encourage you to exchange money for goods via a recognised payment system like PayPal and not to send or handover any items before you have received full payment for them. If you are collecting or delivering an item locally, cash or postal orders are recommended. iVillage staff cannot get involved in any disputes over payments and deliveries.
What can’t be sold?
The sale of any illegal goods including counterfeit items like copies of designer handbags or DVD films is strictly prohibited.
The following may not be sold:
• Livestock, including pets.
• Medical equipment or medicine, including syringes or herbal supplements.
• Alcohol, tobacco or food.
• Any weapon or item that could be considered a weapon, e.g. kitchen knives.
Please exercise caution when buying mattresses and car seats that have been used.
