Sassy celebrity styles
Take your cue from these celebs and rock an on-trend hairstyle this season. Rebecca Barnes shows you how
Up-do elegance
Perfect for a special occasion or party, Dannii Minogue's elegant yet simple up-do is so easy to achieve on mid-length and longer locks and shows off the new mum's glowing skin and striking eyes to perfection.

Simply pull hair back off the face and pile up haphazardly on the crown of the head, fixing with pins or grips. This style doesn't have to be perfect so don't worry too much about any stray pieces of hair.
Sweep your fringe to one side and hold the style with a spritz of hairspray such as Trevor Sorbie Beautiful Volume Hairspray, £4.99 for 250ml.
Freshly shampooed hair is always harder to work with, so wash it the day before in order to ensure the style stays put all night long.
Simple and stylish
Leona Lewis really knows how to do easy chic; this understated style is flattering on most people, is very versatile and really shows off the singer's fabulous hair colour and warm skin tone.

For this look the condition of the hair is paramount, so pack lots of moisture into your tresses with a deeply nourishing shampoo and conditioner such as Vo5 Elixirs Moisture Soak Shampoo and Conditioner, both £2.15, an intensely hydrating duo which help lock in moisture. Blow-dry smooth with a large paddle brush to encourage lots of body and movement, and create a simple side parting so hair falls subtly over one eye.
Chic and sleek
Katy Perry's new attention-grabbing chic and swingy jaw-length bob shouts health and vitality, we want one!

To achieve a similar look you'll need to visit the salon to lay the groundwork; ask your hairdresser to cut in a graduated bob with heavy fringe. Once you've had the chop, this style should be a cinch to look after as it will tend to fall into place.
Unless your hair is naturally fairly straight, once you've blow-dried hair with a large round brush, you may need to deploy the straightening irons to get a similar sleek effect; try Toni&Guy Daily Conditioning Straighteners, £34.99.
To finish, amp up the shine and accentuate your hair colour with a spritz of shine spray; we like Tresemme Silk Shine Finishing Spray, £4.29 - a fine mist is all you need.
Lustrous lengths
This sex kitten style, as seen on Megan Fox, is glamorous yet easy to wear, and will work for most face shapes and hair textures.

If your hair is mid-length or longer, create a full-bodied, tousled effect with the help of rollers, tongs or irons. What you are aiming for is large, undone waves, so don't use rollers that are too small. You'll also need a little time on your hands because this look may take longer to achieve than you think!
Firstly, guard against heat damage and encourage volume with a multi-purpose styling spray; we love Angelfish Style Angel Big 'n' Sexy Volumising Spray, £3.88, which also includes a heat protection formula to shield hair from damage caused by heated appliances.
Once hair has been waved, run your fingers through it to loosen the effect, and part hair in a centre parting so it falls naturally either side of your face.
Choppy and funky
Ex Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt was brave enough to make the transition from long to short and we think it really suits her. At a recent awards ceremony, her hair was spied looking gamine and gorgeous, and was simply styled to accentuate her choppy haircut. A pretty and very on-trend hairband finished Kimberley's look off to perfection.

Start by blow-drying hair with a vent brush to work in lots of volume and texture, brushing hair forward and upwards as you dry. Run a little wax through your hair for a scruffy look; L'Oreal Professionel tecni art Metallic Gloss, £11 (0800 072 6699) is a light wax that is great for defining and texturising short hair. Then place your hairband over the hair to hold the style and add a feminine finish.
Rocking out
Nobody's better at working casual glamour than Florence Welch, spotted backstage at the V Festival And best of all, her mid-length style with heavy, rock-chick fringe is so easy to emulate.

Simply rough-dry hair with fingers and a touch of texturising sea salt spray such as label.m Sea Salt Spray, £3.50 for 50ml, then blowdry the fringe smooth with a round brush - or cheat and get a sleeker look with some flat irons.
If you don't have time to wash your hair don't worry, as a dry shampoo will give your hair body and texture - we love Angel Fish Fresh Angel Fragranced Dry Shampoo, £2.93. And anyway, what self-respecting rock-chick has time to shampoo daily?
Heavenly hair-up
Hilary Duff's cool, unkempt bun is ultra versatile and hints at casual glamour - it's perfect for a day at the beach or a night on the town.

Again, this look is not meant to be perfect, so can be achieved in minutes. Working with mid-length or longer hair that's not been freshly washed, apply mousse such as VO5 Weather Resistant Styling Mousse, £2.73, to hair for extra hold, then scrape back off the face and gather up into a ponytail high on the crown. Backcomb the tail gently and wind it round, securing with grips. Tease out bits with a tailcomb and you're good to go.
Back to basics
Kim Kardashian's easy-peasy side ponytail is chic and sophisticated and can be achieved in minutes.

Concentrate on getting a sleek finish and lots of shine; apply Tresemme Smooth Memory Straightening Spray, £4.29, to help encourage a straight, sleek finish and minimise frizz. Then blowdry hair straight with a paddle brush, drying down the length of the hair shaft to ensure the cuticle lays flat, thus promoting lots of shine.
Brush the fringe flat and pull the length of the hair into a side ponytail. Finally, accentuate your hair's fabulous condition by spritzing on a shine spray such as Trevor Sorbie Professional Beautifully Straightened High Shine Spray, £4.99 for 100ml, to ensure a mirror-like finish.
Creme caramel
Cat Deeley's signature tousled long locks are looking better than ever - here, it's all about the colour and the condition, as her hair just oozes health and vitality.

Start by prepping freshly washed long hair with a product that will help create perfectly formed waves, such as Tresemme Curl Activator Styling Mist, £4.29. Create a centre parting, and apply large rollers into hair, leaving in for as long as possible.
Once you've removed the rollers, rake the hair through with fingers to loosen the curl and spray on plenty of hairspray to hold.
Bed head babe
Drew Barrymore's longer style looks great, and here she has gone for a boho vibe with a centre parting and varying sections of texture. Simple to achieve, this is a great look for festivals or parties.

Working on towel-dried hair, apply a volumising product such as Redken Body Full Carbo-Bodifier, £14.45 (0800 444 880), then part hair in the centre and take random sections, waving and plaiting to create interesting textured pieces. Again, the messier the better is the order of the day, so don't be afraid to experiment!
To set hair further, blast with a hairdryer before unravelling sections and boost volume when hair is dry by turning your head upside down and adding volumising spray at the roots.
Ladylike glam
Myleene's classic set style hints at retro Hollywood glamour, and works well on most hair textures, except very fine.

To recreate this look on mid-length hair, you'll need a few tools - volumising spray, round brush, hairspray and tongs.
Start by using a bodyfying spray on towel-dried hair, before blow-drying hair with a large round brush. Create a low side parting and section off hair before tonging each section, letting it cool before unravelling. Once hair has been tonged, finish with lots of hairspray to hold.
Create the swept-to-one-side look as seen on Myleene with the aid of Trevor Sorbie Professional Bobby Pins, £2.50, and a spritz of hairspray such as Limited Edition Elnett Diamond Hold & Shine Hairspray, £3.49 for 200ml.
Fringe benefits
Long hair can get a tad boring and predictable if you don't vary the style occasionally, which is exactly what Angelina Jolie has done with her new on-trend fringe, which draws attention to her striking blue eyes. And the best thing is, this simple, easy-to-wear look will take you just minutes to achieve.

Casually blow-dry long layers with a paddle or vent brush to maximise body, and apply some mousse when hair is nearly dry to play up the hair's texture without weighing it down; we like label.m Volume Foam, £11 for 210ml (0870 770 8080). Finish by curling the fringe under with a round brush to give a slight bend. Simple, yet stunning.
