Science fun: Light reflectors
No comments
With this activity, children will see how light reacts to different surfaces and, in turn, reflects onto the wall. Light reflectors are even more exciting when a group of children shine their reflectors at the same time.
What this activity will develop:
Science and art skills
What you'll need:Black cardboardScissorsAluminium foilGlue
Setting up:
Cut the black cardboard into small squares. Using the aluminium foil, cut shapes that will make interesting patterns. Glue the foil shapes onto the cardboard squares.
What to do:
Hold a card so that it is facing the sun (but don't look directly at sunlight) or a bright light bulb. Move the card so that the light reflects off the foil shapes, making patterns on a wall. Jiggle the card to make the patterns move. Hold a card in each hand, making the patterns combine and change as the cards move. Have a group of people hold cards to fill a wall with a pattern collage.
