An old-fashioned favourite with caraway seeds as the main flavouring.
 

Ingredients

  • 225g plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 150g butter, softened, plus a little extra for greasing
  • 125g golden caster sugar
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp caraway seeds

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to . Butter a g / b loaf tin, (preferably non-stick).
  2. Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
  3. In a separate bowl cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy, then whisk in the eggs a little at a time.
  4. Whisk in the milk and vanilla, then gently fold in the flour mixture and caraway seeds, mixing until all the ingredients are just combined.
