Sex and the City film premiere

Hundreds of fans queued for hours to get a glimpse of Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon on the red carpet for the World Premiere of the long-awaited Sex and the City film at London's Leicester Square...
We are family
The gathered masses worked themselves into a frenzy before the famous four finally made their entrance.
Sex and the Silly
The crowds chanted 'we want Carrie' as Sarah Jessica Parker arrived in a green tulle and feather dress by Alexander McQueen finished off with what looked like an elaborate flower and vegetable combo resting on her head.
Playing it safe
After SJP's daring bird's nest effort, it came as something of a relief to see Kristin Davis opting for a vintage, sleeveless, calf-length chiffon number, minus the silly hat.
Lady in red
Davis was clearly confident her co-stars would provide the headline-hitting clobber...
Scarlet woman
...but it soon became evident she hadn't consulted with Kim Cattrall before setting off as the English-born actress strode into view wearing an off-the-shoulder taffeta dress by Vivienne Westwood - also in red!
Oops.
How to look good almost naked
Luckily for Cynthia Nixon it was a warm night in London as she opted for a daring, black maxi dress by Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein that only just kept her boobs in check.
The hint of naked female flesh was too much for fashion expert and TV presenter Gok Wan, who immediately made a beeline for her.
Out of character
Nixon's choice of dress was a far cry from the notoriously uptight lawyer she plays in Sex and the City.
Purple peril
As ever, the event was attended by various showbiz types, former Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland turning up in a strapless satin number in indigo.
Don't stand so close to me
Rowland made sure not to linger too close to Michelle Ryan, the Bionic Woman star also plumping for a purple - albeit in a slightly lighter shade - figure-hugging number by Herve Leger.
Go Westwood!
One of the big surprises of the evening saw Vivienne Westwood depart from her usual high-class bag lady look with a relatively normal outfit.
Sex and the City goes on general release at cinemas across the UK on May 28.
