Smoked Mackerel Pate

This is easily made in advance and makes a great starter or spread for a buffet table.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 smoked mackerel fillets, skinned
  • 3 1/2fl oz (100 mls) soured cream
  • 3 1/2oz (100g) cottage cheese
  • juice of half a lemon
  • salt and pepper
  • wholemeal or savoury biscuits, to serve
Serves: 5 Preparation: 10   Total Time: 10min whats this
 

Directions

  1. Make sure all the small bones and skin are removed from the mackerel fillets.
  2. Flake the fish and place in the bowl of a food processor with the soured cream, cottage cheese and lemon juice. Blend until completely smooth and taste for seasoning, remembering smoked fish can be quite salty.
