These slices are a bit of a flapjack replacement - they are a staple for the kids' lunchboxes.
For a snack, take them to work or school with a pot of Greek yoghurt and a good crisp apple.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp sunflower oil
- (for greasing the tray)
- 150g unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp golden syrup
- 75g Demerara sugar
- 200g Nestle Cheerios
- (you can also use Oat Cheerios)
- 25g sunflower seeds
- 25g pumpkin seeds
Directions
More recipes like this
- Preheat the oven to /gas mark Grease a shallow cm x cm baking tray with the sunflower oil.
- Melt the butter, golden syrup and Demerara sugar in a small saucepan, being careful not to let it brown.
- Place the Cheerios in a mixing bowl, then add the melted butter mix and mix well. Stir in the sunflower and pumpkin seeds.
- Tip the mixture into the greased baking tray and press down flat. Bake in the oven for approximately minutes. The mixture should be slightly brown at the edges when ready.
- Cut into approximately slices whilst still warm and slightly soft and leave to cool on a wire rack.
- Tana Ramsay's tip:
- Try adding nuts as well as seeds for that added crunch - I like to use walnut pieces.
