Two people were killed in London when a helicopter crashed into a crane on top of George’s Wharf Tower in Vauxhall, before plunging into a busy road. PM David Cameron is now reviewing the air traffic regulations for flying over London.
Obama says no to gun violence

US President Barack Obama announces new gun law proposals in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, where 20 schoolchildren were shot and killed. New regulations include compulsory background checks and outright bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It’s about time too.
National No Pants Day

Thousands of New Yorkers brave the freezing cold in nothing but their grunts to take part in the No Pants Subway Ride. Participants board the subway, take off their trousers and, that’s it really. It’s intended as a ‘celebration of silliness’ to raise a few laughs, and we think they’ve definitely achieved that!

Beached whale

The beached body of a 15 meter sperm whale was washed ashore on Paraparamu beach in New Zealand. Well, you certainly don’t see that everyday.
Cor, blimey! What a bird!

A rare female bearded tit (that is not a euphemism, folks) was spotted in Hyde Park, London. These birds have never been spotted in inner London, and their arrival has attracted flocks of twitchers hoping for a rare glimpse of the birds!
Boris the polar bear

You also don’t expect to see polar bears in Central London either! This new statue ‘Boris the Polar Bear’ in Sloane Square is part of a campaign to save the species which is under threat thanks to climate change.
