January is traditionally a month of enforced frugality after the excesses of Christmas. But there's no reason to hibernate completely. Check out these great ideas to get you off the sofa and out of the house!
New Year's Day Parade
Join thousands of Londoners as they take to the streets to welcome in the New Year. The Parade starts at 12 noon at Parliament Square, then continues along Whitehall, Trafalgar Square, around Piccadilly Circus and along Piccadilly, ending at Berkeley Street at about 2pm. Pick your spot and enjoy the show!

Please sir, I want some more!
If you're a fan of BBC's reality show 'I'd Do Anything', you'll already know that the Theatre Royal Drury Lane is the place to be on 14 January. It's opening night for 28-year-old Jodie Prenger, who won the public vote to play the part of Nancy. She stars alongside Blackadder's Rowan Atkinson as Fagin in Lionel Bart's musical masterpiece.
