Things to do in Jersey
No comments
We've got six of the best ideas for what to do in Jersey. Take some time to enjoy the beaches, the history and the wine and find pleasure in the wildlife as well as activities to entertain the kids
The Jersey War Tunnels
Jersey was occupied by the Germans during the Second World War, and they went so far as building a system of tunnels and fortifications readying them for extending their attack into the UK.
Nowadays, the tunnels have been turned into a museum, meaning visitors can walk through them and discover the effect the war had on the island.

La Mare Winery
When it started out, the La Mare Winery produced still white wine and apple brandy. Now its produce includes ciders, preserves, the famous black butter and a large range of wines and apple brandy.
You can take a tour to see how it is all made then relax and sample the goods in the Orangery overlooking the vineyards.

Moonwalking
The Jersey coast is hugely affected by tides - as much as doubling in size when the tide is out its furthest. These 'Moon Walks' run by local Jerseyman Derek Hairon, are run when the water is most under influence of the moon, meaning you can walk along the seabed; discover sand bars, saltwater rivers, rock pools and some fascinating wildlife.

Durrell Wildlife Conservation Park
This small island has one of the largest wildlife parks in the British Isles. The Durrell Wildlife Conservation Park provides 31 acres of habitat for all kinds of endangered species.
The park is home to gorillas, lemurs, orang utans and aye-ayes; plus they are dedicated to education, meaning you can find out what on earth an aye-aye actually is!

Blo-karting
Another benefit to the huge expanses of open sand is this adrenaline-fuelled sport. A cross between go-karting and wind surfing, blo-karting propels you along a beach at speeds of up to 90mph.
Not for the faint-hearted, but relatively easy to pick up the basics; you can be cruising along the golden sands of St Ouen's Bay within your first lesson.

aMaizin! Maze and adventure park
A maze created entirely by the cereal crop, maize, this is a great place to take the kids.
While the maze itself is only open in the summer months the adventure park is open from April to September and is heaps of fun, with a toboggan run, crazy golf, go-kart track and a barnyard with twice daily 'meet the animals' sessions.
