Time stands still for no man

Lucas turns five months old in a matter of days. Five months! I am going to spout the usual ‘where does the time go’ line and ‘hasn’t time flown’!

It has and I genuinely I can’t believe it. It’s strange though with time isn’t it? I think it has flown by but then think of things that have happened and when we first brought him home and I can't imagine the house before Lucas' reign!

Anyway time stands still for no man and that includes my son.

I’ve had a quiet week at home after a burst of working away and it has been nice, although I find now I never recover from work and just continue to be tired. Before Lucas I could work and then know that I had a few days to relax, lie in and recover. Now it is straight to pick him up and back in to mummy mode!

It’s all good though and I have enjoyed the week chilling with my little boy. My partner has been sick so I am trying hard to bat that off. Lucas has picked a little bit of a cold but nothing that is bothering his sleep or eating! Not much does to be fair.

The main topic of discussion in the house has been weaning. When do you start? How do you do it? I admit to be being nervous about this! Milk is easy, five feeds of six oz a day, done! I am reading books and taking advice from people but as usual there are several ways to boil an egg, so I think over the next few days we will introduce a morning cereal first and a few bits of fruit and vegetables maybe through the day and see how we get on. I hope he is not like his Daddy, he seems to dislike most fruit and vegetables!

I know the recommended guidelines for weaning is six months, but he is showing a few signs of wanting more food now. Hoovering off his feed, trying to put everything in his mouth and generally watching any piece of food and drink that he sees!

Also my last big piece of work for the year is at the end of August when I fly out with Channel 4 to cover the World Athletics Championships in South Korea, so I want to make sure Lucas is up and running on solids before I go. I don’t think Dad could cope with the stress of having to introduce them when I am away! Joking aside, I am sure he could, but it is nice to think that your key to the house running smoothly and would be great to have things slightly settled before I go.

Sleeping wise Lucas has settled into his cot well. The first couple of nights he was getting used to the freedom and after me having to get 3-4 times a night to stop him face planting. He really enjoys sleeping on his side now and is back to staying reasonably in one place! I have narrowed his cot bed slightly with three carefully rolled up towels and this seems to help him feel a little more secure.

So I am off to Monaco at the end of the week to work trackside for BBC 5Live at the next Diamond League Athletics meeting, I will only be there literally 19 hours, but I suppose there are worst places to spend 19 hours!

I had noticed recently a number of celebs drinking VitaCoco and when it even cropped up in Rihanna's latest music video, I thought I would do some investigating!

Ladies, head to the supermarket this drink is not only good for you it is delicious too!! Celebrity fans include Sienna Miller, Halle Berry, Jessica Simpson, Ed Westwick, Jay-Z and I even saw some in the ring at David Haye's latest fight.

Vita Coco is based on one single ingredient - fresh coconut water from young green coconuts and is jam-packed full of 20 times more potassium than leading sports drinks (that’s the equivalent of two bananas) and naturally occurring electrolytes. It is a great tasting, fat free and low calorie, healthy route to natural hydration. For once something tasty and good for you!
