Take control with Dr Chris' top tips Get it checked regularly - pop along to see your GP, practice nurse or pharmacist as they can all check your blood pressure. Ease up on the salt - try flavouring your food with herbs and spices instead of adding salt. Don't forget to check the labels of processed food - more than 0.5g sodium or 1.25g salt per 100g is a lot. Get fruity - eat fruit and veg of all different colours. By adding chopped fruit and veg to breakfast cereals, sandwiches, pasta or rice dishes it will be easier to reach the recommended five portions a day. Keep active - you don't need to sweat it out at the gym to be active - shopping, gardening and cleaning all count towards the 30 minutes of exercise you should aim for five days each week. Keep an eye on your weight - not only is it important to be a healthy weight, you need to watch you waist too. A woman's waist should be less than 31.5" and a man's less than 37" (or 36" for Asian men). Cut back on booze - women should try to drink no more than two units of alcohol per day and men no more than three units.
Include foods that contain dairy peptides - scientific studies show that dairy peptides, which are included in foods such as the new Flora pro.activ blood pressure mini drink, can help to control blood pressure as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle to maintain a healthy heart.
