Where to eat:
The Latin Quarter offers wall-to-wall restaurants of every nationality and the whole area feels lively. There's everything from posh nosh to cheap cafes. It's your choice whether to blow the budget or save the dosh. I think the nearest metro is San Michel. Otherwise head south from the Notre Dame, over the river and bear right - you will run into it.

We went to Paris last year. The Latin Quarter is best for value and choice. We sat on the church steps on Sunday morning drinking red wine and eating special hotdogs for breakfast. Cost £3.

One of the best - and cheapest - restaurants I've ever been to is in Paris. Now a French Institution, Chartier (7, rue de Faubourg Montmartre) was opened in the 1800s and hasn't changed since. The food is very French and super cheap and the decor is beautiful belle epoch. You can't book, so just turn up. You'll have to share tables with other diners which makes for a fun atmosphere. I think I managed to have a three-course meal with wine for about £10.
