Hot-weather getaways in Spring

iVillage's travel expert, along with some well-travelled iVillagers, give their best advice for exotic sun

My best girl mate and I want a week in the sun the first week of May but don't know where to go to ensure we get the very hot weather! Greece, Spain or even Africa?

  • The Canaries are your best bet, weather guaranteed. We go to Tenerife - I just love it there. - monsterblonde

  • Go to Marmaris in Turkey: very cheap ,very clean, very hot and the men are soooo gorgeous. I've been twice and am getting married there in June. - lorri531

  • What about Tunisia or Morocco for something a little different? Or even Egypt for a treat? Spain and Portugal are fantastic but the weather isn't as hot or reliable as north Africa's. In Tunisia it's roughly 20 degrees on the coast in May, you can get cheap package holidays and you don't need any injections. You can also visit many of the places where Star Wars was shot - if that's your sort of thing. If not you can still take tours into the desert if you fancy a break from the beach.

    Morocco is less traditional package holiday territory but you can still get some good deals there. Once again it's hot (the Canary Islands are off the coast of Morocco...or at least some of them are) and there's plenty to do away from the beach if you fancy it. Again, you don't need any injections.
